As they are rare and I have not tried some of them out yet,it'll be 10 of each until I get 10 living seedlings of each strain.

These are a week old. I got them from Afropips last year.

Just out of curiousity, did those come from a collector or did some come from seed retailers? Not that it makes a difference one way or the other, but it would be nice to know for reference sake.
Barring inbreeding each strain, if you went crazy and crossed them all, you would have 42 unique crosses......assuming you only bred from that pool. Not realistic in many ways, but it does show that the more stock you take a look at, and the more quality selections you make from those genetics, the possiblities increase exponentially. Even if each one is not the overall, ideal plant......I am sure you will find useful traits in many of those. Good luck, and enjoy.

i dont get it. here i think its to preserve the strain but in all reality everyone wants new crosses. for what? maybe to make it more potent to some ones needs or just to see what happends. all while we forget that some of these pure landraces are in fact disappearing.
it a sad state of affairs something that started out as thousands of open air pollination for selection is now dwindling down to a few seeds. i want to say to those who are in fact cross are very serious in what they do and are picky about their male and females. i feel vic* had hit it on the nose by the way he did things and brought it upon us to learn from what he did.
far off subject but i wanted to put that out in the open. it's funny as i write away it feels like i've said this b4 i know i've heard about keeping landraces alive, but i rather see it done by the thousands.
Marvin Martian
04-27-2006, 12:04 AM
Preserving landraces and doing crosses are not mutually exclusive events. I am quite positive that TC will take steps to assure those landraces live on. He may inbreed them one more time and make his selections from those progeny using a fair number of plants. On the other hand, is it prudent to grow out hundreds or thousands of plants the first trial just to find out the strain does not meet your needs? I guess my point is this....it may appear that the pictures shown (# of beans) are a small stash of those genetics, but each plant will contains genetic information that will not express itself in each individual plant, but will show up as variation within offspring. So, if TC decided to further inbreed the plants he grows out from each respective variety, he could quite feasibly grow out 1000 specimens of each if that is what it takes to meet his goals. I am not sure of his intentions, but at least this should illustrate the potential is there if that is the route he chooses to take.
MM
The Cannarchist
04-27-2006, 12:05 AM
The Landraces will just be inbred via open pollonation to increase the seed stock, this time around. And to have a look see......
I'd rather do it by the thousands as well,BC.D ,but you know how it is....
I've shared out all of the Mali,Sierra Leone and Senegal seeds but have retained 100 of each for storage/Gene bank deposit.
Seedlings are just showing,BTW.

For the record...
The Mali,Senegal,Siera Leone were a kind gift from a Norwegian member of the old CW. He travelled there a year ago .The seeds were selected from Bud he personally evaluated and smoked. He made the initial selections. Thanks friend, you know who you are......

it's nice to know that u choose to preserve a plant that conservatives* would not like in this world that's starting* to rot. marvin i agree each plant having different genetic traits. that's why it would be a better to open pollinate all to have twice as more. yes it will lead to f'2'3's ect but this is what the plant love to do in the outdoors and adapt to it's climate region.
if u all could it would make a lot more sense to move to a place that doesn't have so many laws on the plant we all choose to grow for whatever reason. i bid u great luck in whatever u try to accomplish* cc. i just wanted to state how i feel about the true landraces that still exist in small numbers.
it's like a scientist said landrace* sativa's can not be stablized but the tastes can be narrowed down to your choice. enjoy the beans cc and the rest that got gifted. bravo

I'm most interested in the ones from Mali as that is north of where most west African plants are grown. And is a desert environment except along the Niger river basin.

i want to say there not even using nutrients to flower them ladies. from what i see they have to top the right? from what i've grown outdoors plants usuallyshoot straight up instead of the award side way shoot. more so from a sativa and it staying that short and bushy shows them people no what they are doing. the herb looks too dry from the dry heat over there. no one has asked what were the highs like?
Monseigneur Stroganoff
08-14-2006, 01:56 PM
nutrients? The costal farmers used fish-skin and dried seaplants. Cow shit was used by most. As the "soil" is very sandy and contains high level of salts. I met one guy that used dry phosporus chemical. And chickenshit...they used...
look at that pic from sierra. If you get reborn as a holy cow you end up here :p
yea they "topped" and bent them alot. Look at the seedlings at pic 3
The knowledge of growing was very variable. I found sensi(seedless) 3 times. Herbalists. Pollen and males didnt consurn the comercial. Remember that money rules here. Told them that the tourists would pay double to get seedless.
will talk more about the highs later, try to find some pics with trees....

hola caddis. People were very friendly, I dont know if it had anything to do with the slab of lebanese lump I brought with me or what. Place to sleep was never a consurn as long you had a moskito nett. The food was fantastic Domeda(chicken/peanutbutter), Benagin(fish n rise spiced up to max) blah blah if you dont mind peppers and spice this area will fit your stomac. Actually I've started making this at home too...
Have anyone tasted Butterfish?!? Butterscoth Hawaiian x Blowfish? LOL Its one of the best fish I ever had. No bones and just yummy(its the 2 big ones on the pic). Shrimps were so big I doubt you can find bigger than this. Its a matchbox.
Southest was outside Freetown Sierra, deepest was Bamako in Mali.
I have many stories to tell -dont know where to begin...
As for the highs I have to find some more ganja pics:teeth:

I'd love to see Africa.
I've got some Early Swazi seeds from Doc Gthumb. It was the first sativa that I tried and I screwed up with the pH and they didn't do very well, but I was smart enough to make seeds from it.
Do any of you guys know what kind of high it produces? I guess that my seeds are as good as the ones Doc sent since it's not a hybrid, correct? They germinate fine, and I'm growing some of it outdoors now. I believe (have to check my plot map to be sure) it's budding pretty heavily already, which would make sense since it's called "Early". Doc markets it as the only 100% sativa which will finish in southern Canada (or something close to that). I've thought that it might be good to breed with other sativas to shorten the finish time. Any thoughts on that?
Hey Albi,
I wonder why they grow their plants so bushy. Do you know? Seems like it would be more productive to grow big, tall plants. Do they grow different varieties in the same location? Who do they sell it to? Is it a cash crop that is smuggled to Europe or somewhere?
Peace,
GM

Wonderful pics and stories Albi... Highya Glass...
I have no experience with the early from the Dr., but I have been lookin into some swazi that have been finishing in 12-12.5 weeks which is def early for pure sats...at least, IME.. they no doubt love to produce lots of wild out of everywhere branches, good part is they also produce flowers all the way back to the main stalk... very clear long lasting creative, daydreamy buzz...the jury is still out on the taste, just can't place it... should make excellent breeding stock...maybe a golden trio..LOL
You should be well pleased how they perform out under Sol for ya...take it easy
Glass Man
08-17-2006, 06:14 AM
Thanks SS,
I'll let you know how the "early" version goes when I harvest and also when I get around to trying it indoors again too. I believe Doc claims it'll finish in 60 days, it my memory is correct.

Monseigneur Stroganoff
08-23-2006, 03:09 PM
Hola
60 day swazi? Wow.
Glass Man: You are right. As I said the knowledge was very variable and the comercial is badly cultivated the plants are not able to show themselves as the space between plants are too small. I was told they had a season that they could veg them longer I think it was after the raining period. Dig a hole in the ground and mix fish skin and chicken compost, after 3 big hand of seeds water 2 times a day. 10-15 weeks later 2 meters high and they cut it down and dry it in the sun.
In Casamance in the south of Senegal there were hundreds of comercial grows as well as some crazy herbalists. I obtained the "Buddah" there and it is some realy daydreamy anti axiety ganja. I gave it a 7 in potency it will intresting too see what Vapor/Cannachrist says. The yield sucks I think but lets wait till september 1st!!
The Sierra is some kind of related too the buddah as for highs but more psycidelic mabe. I could havest myself in one garden there at a nice muslim compound I stayed at. Smells terpentine/alcohol/incense??
I cant wait for the Mali!!!! I gave it a 8,5 and 9 in potency and have no ceiling! Very different from the costal weed. Creeper. A dogon priest hooked me up and scared the shit outa us!! He had this show where he cut his arm of and shit and a guy fired at him with a rifle. Minutes after he wake up and his arm was fine hahaha. Dogon weed step back!! LOL

To get in I'd have to buy a crate of brown gin and hook up with some local semi gangster. We drowe in his taxicab and "bribed" us thru the checkpoints which where controlled by junkies with rifles. When we finally got there you could see acres on acres. It seemed like you where an idiot if you not were growin weed to profit you family. First I stoped at some big commercial ones as my gangsterguide had to meet his buddies, but I quickly understood I had to look somewhere else. Good they didnt got angry when I asked for better stuff, tried to explain what I was looking for...After much jabajaba I met some shamans/rasta/herbalists that even had the knowledge to grow sensi(seedless). Had some very nice convercations. Old men can make you laugh!!!hehehe Here I collected buddah and 2 others.
When asked about Buddah name, it was because of its daydreamy, still focused high. Good the car had secret pockets to bring it back. Smoked it alot. One Rasta called Million said most of the genetics there where from ghana and came in the 60's. He was talking very highly about ghanan herb. He also told the same story I was hearing everywhere about a "Colombian" that came there in late 80 and the 90s.
First when I saw them growing(in africa), they seemed pretty uniform like a xmas trees. Have some friends that are flowering some now and they report the same as you. Will soon have a look and will post some pics.
As for smells I cant remember. I have some written down somewhere mabe look tru videos.
ALBI
Wow, thanks Albi. I salute you for spreading such great genetics.
That's quite a venture, I bet you could tell some stories that would make us shake our heads in wonder.
I love to hear the origins of strains, people do amazing things for good pot. I will post pics as soon as they are sexed and flowering.

Well I lost the Kenya beans during germination to mold.......? Why would these seeds mold and all the other seeds in the same area, container, treated the same way not mold? Oh well Ill try more Kenya beans later..........
The Dogon Priest seeds are very nice and starting to branch!!!!The first of all seeds this year to show this!
The Sengal Buddah are looking good.
The Loas seedling is tall and skinny!
The Seirra Leon are looking good too.
The Malawi beans doing good aswell!
Should be a tasty harvest this year with many highs to be enjoyed!
Thinking of crossing the above to the WattyKush, and SweetPinkGrapefruit, and maybe F-13!
Ill update with photos soon enough! Some of these plants are going under tarps within the next few weeks!
Thanks to the kind people who pass along great genetics for all to share!

I'd say the Dogon as it originates from futher north than the rest. The Dogon live at 13 North whilst the West african coastline as around 5-6 North.Using my flowering latitude calculator the Dogon should be quicker by two weeks or so.On another site I saw a Senegalese flower for 20 weeks so I'd reckon on 16-18 for the Dogon.
BTW the Dogon is only surpassed by the Laotian in vigor....
I've got a few of the Dogons starting to smell exquisite on the Stem rub.....One male is going to be a beast and has a very strong smell.

I was never in "dogon-land"
just the area around bamako
but the dogon people were everywere
and this crazy shaman priest dressed in full blue suit, and called himself for the "devil in the blue dress" carrying a bird mask. He had a constant grin on his face telling me I was looking for something....he was right
the next day when I was eating at "mamas" he showed up interuptedly and invited me to a show he was having later that evening. Little did I know what to happen...
I followed him to his "wagonshop" and fell in love with one of his old carved bird statues. He had old old sodma voodoo shit statues with real blood and nails... I stayed there 5 hours haggeling and went out back smoking now and then in his safe spot. When I went out of weed he offered a big roll in a newspaper(100-200g)."Harvested yesterday. You will like it."
and from there everything was adjusted steps up up up
I was so high
Complete dark outside, a lot of drums, dancing, drinking, smoking
the show; people screaming like they were dying, the shaman run around crazy with a blade and show it...screaming. Suddenly he cuts his one arm off and people are so afraid they scream even more.... he commands one of his helpers to shoot him with a loaded rifle. BAM! Kaos!!!!! I was flipped!!
After mabe a minute later he was covered with a blanket and then he raised up(!!!!) and resurected from the dead.
I was so scared. LOL
Later the party was crazy
Had to get drunk as fuck to forget the shit that just happened
this is the seeds story
never saw the priest again

NEWS IN GHANA
MAGIC TURNS BLOODY
A Togolese who pitted his magic against gunpowder paid with his life at a magical show which turned bloody at Adukrom in the Eastern Region on Thursday night.
The magician, Kofi Brugah, alias Zamba Powers, arrived from Togo barely two weeks ago and mesmerised audiences at Asamankese and other villages, after securing the relevant permits to put up shows in the Region.
Last Thursday he was at it again at Adukrom on the Akuapem Ridge and after a sensational start, earning him wild applause for conjuring a number of items, including sweets and money, for distribution to the audience, Brugah claimed he had magical powers to withstand gunshots.
He then produced a rifle and challenged a volunteer to step forward.
After a tense moment of silence, a gentleman stepped forward from the crowd and Brugah handed him the gun, stood upright and asked the volunteer to press the trigger.
Boom! Horror of horrors! There lay Brugah in a pool of blood screaming and pleading to be saved.
As the crowd scattered in utter shock and panic, the man who had pulled the trigger quickly disappeared.
With the assistance of others, Brugah

When I lived in Nigeria, the Nigerian national soccer squad would not play without their witchdoctor being present.I remember the squad claiming one day that the Ghanaian team had a witchdoctor who had placed a curse on the Nigerian team before a big match........They all refused to take the field.....until the team witchdoctor managed to get the most famous "JuJu" practitioner in the country to make up a potion for them all to drink. They claimed the potion would stop the bad magik from the Ghanaian witchdoctor.
They still lost.....
