Rockwell man faces federal drug charges
CEDAR RAPIDS — A Rockwell man who was allegedly operating a marijuana-growing operation faces federal drug charges.
Mark Donisi, 55, is charged with manufacturing and possessing with intent to distribute marijuana.
The charge is contained in a federal complaint that alleges that on Aug. 2, agents searched Donisi’s rural Rockwell property and found 20 pounds of marijuana, marijuana plants growing beside a shed, a grow light, fertilizer and pots.
Also found were notes detailing marijuana harvests in 2004 and 2005, sprayers, misters, drying pegs, firearms and approximately $31,000 in cash, according to the complaint.
It also alleges that more than 130 marijuana plants were found growing in a cornfield across the road from Donisi’s residence.
If convicted, Donisi faces a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a possible maximum sentence of 40 years, a $2 million fine, a $100 special assessment and four years of supervised release following any imprisonment.
