just wondering if anyone had ideas as to how I can efficiently run my exhaust system? My air cooled reflector only has one flange, so currently i am using that as my source(of exhaust) and then out of the direct area and runs through the fan and pushes the stinky air in threw the carbon scrubber. But all the sizes are wrong - the whole thing just isn't performing to my needs. The Problems:
1 - The ducting from the reflector to the fan is 4", and then a reducer cause the fan is a 6" inline
2 - then coming off the fan there is another reducer(back to 4")
3 - A 4" duct into the scrubber, but my scrubber is homemade and has a 6" to 4" reducer built into it as part of the frame so its perminent
Thats 3 reducers more than i'd like, It creates alot of backpressure and am trying to figure out a better way of running my exhaust.

Thanks for any Help or just your thoughts on the matter

Peace
JC

I can't help with the reducer on the filter(if its perminant) But the reducer from the fan to the hood isn't too hard, a little nerve racking though.
You can cut the hole in the hood to six inch with some shears. You just need a 6 inch duct collar from home depot, metal shears, and some duct tape. Just trace and cut.
If you could make the filter six inch also it would be even better.

What might also help would be to run 6" ducting. Place the first reducer at the hood, run 6" ducting to the fan, then run 6" ducting to the filter and place a reducer there.

1 overlooked air jams is bends in the duct lines, try to keep them st8 as possible.
another is your scubber be enuff,if it was built to small that very well could cause trouble.
what size fan do you have?
what size is the filter?
when i built mine i went to sellers website and built 1 the the same size as they recomend for the size fan i run..

You may already have plenty of ventilation. How many watts, how many cuft is your area. Granted, you are wasting a bunch of power by scrunching the vent ducting, do you have heat problems?
