If hesbollah were to lay down their arms, you would be suprised how fast Israel would leave.

Oh yeah? You and Israel have a chat about that?
One of the best posts I've read, GB. Nice....

there is no hesbollah, there are only individuals who give up their otherwise worthwhile lives for a cause they believe to be greater than themselves (some fools are even willing to blow up innocent humans as a cause greater than they...go figure). Selfishness can be a good thing in the right context.
edit.. thanks LSnB If you like that article I would sugest trying out www.strike-the-root.com for other excellent articles.

I like the idea, however, biological biases like family group affiliations and our current state of socialization preclude it. The very way we seek identity is to affiliate and gravitate towards external cues that realize our internal drives. A world without competition is like a universe without gravity. If there is no resistance there is no motion.

Eliminate ego/competition and the world will return to the Dark Ages. Exercise those two human traits with love and the world will progress beyond our wildest dreams.

It would be great Elohim but how does one eliminate human nature? The spiritual path is a very narrow one with The World on either side. It's mighty easy to fall off of that path. :)

true...but i see great things for person kind...i think human nature will eventually be a thing of the past...we only think we are bound to our hominid tendencies...
...or maybe i read too much science fiction...

You say there is no Hesbollah?
I bet you even believe that there is no Mafia, right?
Then why would a none existant group remain armed despite UN resolution 1559, and then commit acts of terror from bases in south Lebanon?
Nope, I really don't think your looking at the whole picture here Genghis.

There ain't no other side. If thought form or ego transmigrates dimensionally it brings all its idiosyncracies with it. It is above as it is below. Evolution will just show us that we must serve the group as we serve ourselves. I believe the concept is called Love.

Thanks ViRedd. This forum is home to some really great folks who are able to surprise me again and again with mature, well thought out ideas and posts.... often in their own words. Kudos to you ViRedd for being a great example of how one intelligently expresses their view without bashing the other over the head with it. As long as personal attacks are kept out through moderation and the ideas remain...this forum is gold.

Competition is great. who can play the most interesting interpretation of a violin concerto...beautiful... yet, which "group" can blow up more individual innocents isn't really competition... it is irrationality of the highest order.
Of course groups do exist but, like money, it is all in your mind. I've read news stories that actually spoke of French or Bulgarian or whatever country as feeling a certain way or wanting something in particular. How can a group want anything or feel any certain way? They can't. A certain percentage of them may have a certain number of similar attitudes beliefs or whatever but every group can be divided into subsets with often wildly divergent positions, right down to the individual...and even the individual can be divided on some issues.. preferably figuratively :D.

Yup, the individual can be wildly divergent on many levels within a group. However, Acceptance is the most powerful tool of manipulation. It is the exception rather than the norm to hear individuals speak their own minds. Oftentimes, to a beat you can hear the echoes of opinions rather than thoughts. We also have to realize that individuals are keyed to stand out or be outright antithetical by nature. Good, like everything, is subjective. To quote Confucious: 'The wiseman is never of two mind', my interpretation is that doubt in ones actions is not an option. Therefore, It may be ones belief that violence is the most direct way to spread their ideas. If they can be violent without tripping social mechanisms such as conscience, they are either sociopaths or firmly rooted in their convictions. There are many paths and I'm not one to believe that mine is the sheerest way to perfection. But, I am firmly rooted in the belief that if anothers path does not interefere with my right to live and choose, they are more than welcome to it.
