It was nearly 38 years ago at the Chicago DNC,,,,

Perhaps one of the most famous incidents in the anti-war movement was the police riot in Chicago during the 1968 Democratic National Convention. Hundreds of thousands of people came to Chicago in August 1968 to protest American intervention in Vietnam and the leaders of the Democratic Party who continued to prosecute the war.

I was watching video clips of walter cronkite last nite,,,dan rather was nearly picked up and removed from the convention floor for asking to many questions,,,,crokkite told the nation to turn off there sets,,,it was wild,,,,the democrats all ganged up on the right wingers who were against the war,,,,

It was the Left,,,Yes the extreme left who mobilized and put America into the Vietnam war,,,Trying to democrasize the globe,,,Spreading freedom,,,

protracted war strategy. The idea was to get the United States bogged down in a war that it could not win militarily and create unfavorable conditions for political victory,,,Sounds like the Iraqi muslim fascism theory to,,,and they will be succesful,,,By 1968, things had gone from bad to worse for the Johnson administration,,,And as the Bush Iraqi war is in Tatters,,,so will the cookie crumble

The Extreme right and conservatives were against it,,,Now years later after the democrats failed with a protracted guirilla ground war,,,The right say it will be different this time,,,Hahahahahaha

Johnson engaged the Vietnamese in secret negotiations in the spring of 1968 in Paris and soon it was made public that Americans and Vietnamese were meeting to discuss an end to the long and costly war. Despite the progress in Paris, the Democratic Party could not rescue the presidency from Republican challenger Richard Nixon who claimed he had a secret plan to end the war.

And at the time it was the right,,,the bleeding heart social cult religion republicans that wanted out,,,,,The republican conservatives are quitters,,,and never had won a war in there history,,at least what i can find,,

Just thought you guys could read this and give it some thoughts,,,how the tide turns and what one side will do for a vote or two,,,

One of my points is that the New Democrats will have the same message two years from now,,,

They will have a plan to end the war once if people are tired of it

Just my stoner analogy

As I remember it, there were factions from both sides trying to end the war. The Left with their Che flags and the Right trying to oust Johnson. Anyway you slice it, it was a terrible time for the country and had the effect of changing it forever. Nixon kept his promise and ended the Vietnam war.
