A number are saying no.

Vi showed up over at Planet G a few weeks ago, but I haven't seen anything of him since.

I wasn't a P&L member at the old site, but am looking forward to contributing at this new and better site. Hopefully diverse opinions will be tolerated here. The old site had some great people, but also some rabid name-callers (the realm of the ignorant)!

As the moderator here, I hope I'll be able to strike some kind of balance. I despise censorship, but I also have no patience for venom. Generally people don't resort to name-calling until they've run out of intelligent things to say, so name-callers will be censored and/or banned on the assumption that they have nothing worthwhile to share.

That having been said, all diverse and opposing opinions are welcome. It wouldn't be any fun if we all agreed all the time...:D

I'm glad to see you moderating BB. It could be stressful as a mod in this forum but I'm sure you'll handle it well.

Hi GB,
It's quite nice to see some of the P&L refugees here.
I just discovered this site last night.....I had given up hope.....
Is this indeed a secure site, which actually encourages free and open political discourse?
Hot, diggity DAWG!!!

ixnay on the effugee re... we still have recovering egos in the midst. hehe

Good to see ya made 'er Wavels. How free and open remains to be seen (so far so good), but there is always the rumble in the jungle for the trash talk which inevitably pops up from time to time.

I ran across Calvera over on ICMAG......the last time was in March.
BVO?
What's become of WildWeasel?
Most of the sites affiliated with ganja seem to me to actively discourage political debate or even discussion.
So far this place seems very willing to let us stoners mix it up a bit.
Yipeee!

Wavels

PS.--- GB, thanks for heads up on offensive language!!!

Wild Weasel was gone from CW for a few months before the old site went down. The last I heard he had a run in with a log truck and his Excursion lost and he was learning to do certain things all over again. I heard his hands, along with a good bit of the rest of him, took a beating so I don

Vi is back and has been made a mod in the politics forum here, which I personally feel is a great thing for us here, a more even handed politics mod I have never seen, and that includes my time as a P&L mod at the previous CW. :laugh2:

Of course there are those who will not return, those who will, those who swear they won't but eventually do, et cetera.. regardless, onward in to the breach.

So, someone mentioned a balanced political discussion here. I'm wondering what kind of views a "right wing conservative cannabis grower/smoker" would have. If there are any out there which would share their views I'm very curious about how you feel about cannabis prohibition, the oil war, the patriot act, the immigrant issues, the hushed media, the president's ratings, etc.
I guess the cannabis prohibition one would be a good place to begin, since it is so relevant to this board. How do you feel about that? I understand from a capitalistic profit generating standpoint it is good because it keeps prices inflated. But from a freedom standpoint, you could get busted for simply growing a special plant. Should it be a crime to grow? Is it good for our society; socially, economically, and politically speaking? Does it mix politics with religion? I'm just wondering how simular and/or dissimular our views might be.

Peace,
GM

Hmmmm.....Is there something you'd like to tell us.

Before the old CW went down one of Wild Weasel's friends told a rather detailed story about his accident. He was headed to Kansas I believe to look at a couple decommissioned Atlas F missile sites. He wanted to buy one and turn it into a home. I believe he was in Arkansas when the accident happened, that is if my memory serves me correctly.

Thanks for the response Brick Top,
As for the prohibition, do you think it's something which we citizens should try to change? If so, what methods can/should we utilize to make our views heard & considered without jepordizing our security, since we are presently the "law breakers". Are there many folks like you on the conservative side who feel strongly about legalizing cannabis?
It would seem to me that it would be an easy sell from an economical standpoint, the jails are packed full of drug offenses, and at a huge financial cost to the public. The direct public costs of prisions, law enforcement, and court time. Then the huge negative impacts, (financial, psycological, & social) that are felt by so many families who have husbands, fathers, & sons who are locked up (our course their are their female counterparts also imprisioned). The lost revenues from so many workers locked out of the workforce is hard to imagine.
I hear a lot of folks talking about the Mexican immigrants doing the work which Afro-Americans used to do, and it's just assumed that they have become too lazy now to do those jobs. I might argue that many of them are in prison, rather than being too lazy, now.
The immigrants wouldn't be flooding in it the jobs weren't available, right? Or perhaps I'm wrong about that. Maybe with the widening of the gap between the rich & poor there are more jobs at the bottom?
It seems that inflation has been what has really hurt the middle class. The wealthy benefit from inflation, because they own the properties, goods, and assets which go up in value/cost, while the middle & low classes just keep getting less for their money (because they don't have enough assets to invest & accumilate (sp?)).
I'm really concerned about the middle class. It seems to me America is only as strong as it's middle class. A healthy middle class makes a country/society strong. The recent news of so many extremely overpaid CEOs and exectutives has had a huge negative psycological impact on society. It tells them that nothing's fair and the big guys are screwing us all, and our government is "bought" by them. Same thing with the EPA's lax job of keeping the environment clean, the big companies can pollute our air & water in the name of capitalism & profit, while we have become forced to begin drinking bottled water! We can't eat the fish from many of our American waters! That really pisses me off. What are your feelings about pollution? Is there an excuse that you are willing to swallow? What is the government's responsibility? Isn't is "Protect & Serve"? Who and what are they supposed to protect and serve? I would say everyone and everything within it's boundaries. Am I incorrect? Capitalistic freedom doesn't mean it is okay to poison ourselves in persuit of profit, there has to be rules to protect all of the things which "money can't buy".

I just caught up on this thread, ......holy moly.....too funny.....

Hey BrickT. WW morphed into a couple different handles in the final weeks of CW.....I was quite entertained by his being reborn as varied personas....hahahheheh......

Hi Vi.......Mr. Parker= Genius.....toooo beautiful!!
thanks

Glass Man, I've noticed that more old farts lean to the right. Or, at least this has been my subjective experience in Cannabis related internet sites. Lots of old hippies became right wingers or Libertarians.

Happy trails,
Wavels

The one that was supposedly morphing was the guy that was his friend and told him about CW. He had a long-standing beef from a year or years before after being booted over some argument, I think it was censorship.

He allegedly went on a vendetta and was notifying the RCMP and U.S. LEO about CW and complaining and in one post that lasted just a few minutes before being deleted claimed to have a group of hackers working and feeding intel to the RCMP. That was shortly after one day or night when he flooded every forum with the same message over and over again. That was something to see!

True or not I don

Of course we should try to bring about change but there is your dilemma. How do you write or call or e-mail your members in Congress and retain security? Doing it anonymously is a waste of time, it won

Brick,
It appears that we agree on many of the same issues, to a certain degree. Perhaps there are enough of us on each side who see the big picture and can come together, leaving our "extremist wings" to their uncompromising selves, and promote the rebuilding of a strong and healthy (in all senses of the word) country.

If we could just get marijuana legalized I think we would be making a huge step forward, but that is my biased opinion! ;)

GM
