How much genes are past though splicing ?
I have read that cherry plants were made to ripine early and later in the seson by splicing the cherry tree to a plant that blooms in thje late season..
So with that in mind thats proof of gene manipulation through splicing ..

Heres the Kicker that, cherry trees off spring had the same traits!!

yes that right , theseeds inherited traits from a differenc specie of plant and passed them!!

so can i do this with good weed in a sort of modifyed cubeing proses using splicing and cubing to stablise a strain?

AFAIK, no genes are passed trough slicing, and seriously, it must be a real PITA to do this for an anual plant, How long does a cherry tree last? ;)

oops sorry my spelling is crappy..

Are you talking about grafting one plant to anothers root stock or are you talking about genetic engineering? If your talking about the former, which I think you are, then no genes are passed from plant to plant. The hardier root stock makes the plant hardier because the problems that the scion was having were related to issues in its inferior root system.

Anyway that is a discussion for another forum.

If your talking about genetic engineering then I'd like to see the article or paper your referring to and then we could get more specific in terms of questions and answers.

NOT ttalking root cells, im writing about cell walls that are cut and joined.
evedence of spliced plants passing traits was recorded back in america history..
A man who went by the name of jhonny apple seed spread the use of spliceng here in america..
kids were tought about him in history.
I WILL do some more research . to re cheak my facts

Please do. I'd like to see exactly what your talking about before I comment on it.

OK I did a search for gene splicing and as I thought it is just another term for genetic engineering. It is a little more complicated than...

cell walls that are cut and joined.

There may be hugh benefits and hugh risks with this technology. You need a lab, and a lot of know how, to do it.

Search for genetic engineering and you will learn more about it.

If your talking about grafting no traits are passed from one to the other. Genetic engineering is a hell of alot more difficult to do. You first have to find your gene of interest and than use restriction enzymes to cut it and splice it into a circular form of DNA. Next it must be multiplied into many many more so that you have enough to work with it is than taken and "shot" into a plants tissue cells. the plant tissue is than grown into a plant and is tested to see whether the correct genes which were inserted actually took hold so to speak
