buds swell at night?

towards the end of the flower cycle, every time i open the door i find new plants/branches that need support.. but almost never during lights-on. which means they're swelling at night, right?

anyone know anything about it?

just like humans ; plants do put on weight whilst sleeping/ resting
under full lights or midday sun the plant is defending itself, especially during flower when it gets all crystally , which is the plants effort to reflect the excess light off the plant, like many tiny mirrors

oh this is'nt working ( posting whilst straight)

have you thought of hanging Yo Yo's plant supporters, or something similar?
as they're only going to swell more
i remember BC Big Bud branches were always snapping off on their own
and manouvering around and brushing against one was enough to snap them

try using string or strong twine, to support the branches from the main meristem- growing stalk
also using elastic bands to tie to the branch to be supported, then attached to the twine
where you tie the support to the main meristem-stalk, may i suggest using a small piece of air hose, by running the twine through it and then bending the thin airtube around a higher branch- stalk junction
i have done it without the air hose and actually had the twine/ wire dig itself into the stalk , and was grown over by the plant
this type of support is great for outdoors as its flexible and giving , whilst also taking the weight off nd distributing it

Much better, carefully considered answer from the inspiration due to cannabis.

I wanted too tell our new landlords before i ever moved in here- I would have had to stand alone. Her and some "buddies of ours" totally ganged up on me "no don't tell her you'll never get the place"
The "buddies" pulled her aside (just found this out the other day) and convinced her not to let me tell the landlord.
My view was 300 to 500 seeds a year to get my 13 moms, I did not want to move anywhere without telling the landlord first, I STATED that it's not worth it moving if we lose the moms......
So when i pull out of here it will be alone, and stoned to the bone....
I had to dig my leaf outta the trash, and she keeps throwing it away..
Leaf doesn't count when your med status.
She is paranoid, paranoia causes problems, cation saves your butt though...

Okay, okay, I am stoned to the bone. Which, according to Joe, is the defining line for fully responsive answers!

Hippy trick I use for supporting the weight of those large crystaline nugs is the following. When growing in soil I insert a 1/2" length of PVC pipe into the grow pot that is one foot taller than the plant. Usually by the time the weight problem developes the plant is pretty much done stretching. Using bonzia wire make a simple large hook at the end of the wire which will cradle the bud itself. At the other end of the wire make a real tight "V" about an inch long. This "V" will be hooked into the open end of the pvc pipe above the plants.
This allows you to handle your pots as individuals for pest control and rotating your plants around the light's footprint. All of the supports for the buds are located within the pot.

Since this took me so long to post, having trouble remembering what the fuck I am posting about, think I will go roll me another one even better than the other one! Late!!
